Billy Blanks Kicked My Ass

Have you ever heard of Billy Blanks? Let me introduce him. He is a sadist. OK, maybe not intentionally.

He has a set of DVD's, you may have heard of them, Tae-Bo. Well, I have one of these DVD's from back in my "I just had a baby maybe I should do something about the weight" days. On Saturday I had the genius idea (read- dumbest idea EVER) of brushing off the old Tae-Bo DVD and giving it a go. HAHAHAHA!!

Step 1: Change into exercise gear.
Step 2: Draw the curtains
Step3: Proceed to make an ass of myself.

Coordinated I am not. I can punch. I can sort of kick. I can not do both at the same time and look graceful. I kept up for about 25 minutes or so, which actually surprised me considering my fitness level is about zero right now.

Fast forward to Sunday. I couldn't move. No. I literally could not move. My legs hurt, my arms hurt, my shoulder blades hurt, my back hurt. I peeled myself out of bed onto the couch. That is where I stayed for about 90 percent of the day. Billy Blanks kicked my ass with his pearly white wide smile, while lying to me about how well I was doing. Today I bought the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred DVD. At least she will growl at me and tell me that I suck.

  1. Hey chick, I like your new digs. My husband just got these DVDs. He seems to like them but frankly I can't remember the last time he used them. ;P
I wanted him to get the P90X series but he didn't want to spend that much money.
I just got Zumba, and it is a lot of fun. They say you can burn 1000 calories an hour. I love to dance so right now I'm enjoying it. I wasn't sore the next day at all.

  4. I love those dvd's - I bought a couple of them. Like you I can punch and kick because most of my life I have done Karate. It is knackering but great. These days my life does not support exercise DVD's "helpful 21 month old gets in the way but I have been running. I have blogged about it here on the first and other posts http://www.themoiderer.com

  6. Ha! I owned Tae Bo videos on VHS...they were an ass kicker. Maybe I ought to invest in a more modern copy of his workout.
I have the Biggest Loser DVD set, and they are all good. Even the yoga is hard!

  7. Oh man, Billy Blanks has a big fitness center out here in LA that I've somehow managed to avoid. Good luck with Jillian. I shredded for exactly 17 days. Hint: Turn the volume off, or you will soon want to reach in the tv and throttle her.

  8. OMG, I just started the 30 day shred. She is the devil. A fit devil.
Billy Blanks. I am so not coordinated enough for all that. A few weeks back I got a dance/exercise DVD from the library. Indy came into the living room while I was doing it (or attempting to anyway) and told me that I wasn't very coordinated and should take it back. Nice.

  9. First off - Jillian Michaels can yell at me anytime she wants to.

Second - Pain is weakness leaving the body.

    'Nuff said.

  10. Yay! I am so proud of you Kat. Yes, something about the beautiful pain. I am pretty much always sore - you will come to recognize that feeling as progress.

  11. I had 2 tai bo tapes ( yeah,... tapes... that's how long ago I had them.) They kicked my ass too. I liked Billy blanks though.

  12. I have the tapes too and really should dig them out and start kicking my own ass lol. I also have the 30 day shred dvd too. I did that for a few days and it so kicked my ass. For some reason I really the like the dancing to the oldies but can't stand Richards Simmons remarks throughout the whole tape lol.

  14. I have been doing Davina Fit, but I honestly just got into it this past week. And boy do I ache. Who thought DVD's would be so grueling?

  15. Oh yes, Jillian will kill you. And you will love her for it. I did the whole 30 days back in January, and was then stupid enough to stop completely. Now I'm trying to get back into it, and going through the hell all over again. There's a lesson to be learned in there somewhere, although I'm not sure I want to learn it.
